The hits keep coming from Buick, a brand trying to reinvent itself as hip and relevant after decades of selling stodgy, dull sedans. Its biggest engineering success so far is its smallest model, the compact Verano. Click here to read my Autos.ca Quick Spin of the 2012 Verano.

What I think: 2012 Scion iQ
The tiny Toyota-built Scion iQ wants you to think it’s a smart buy. But at nearly $17,000, you can do much better, value-wise. Click here to read my Autos.ca Test Drive.
What I think: 2012 BMW 328i
The 2012 3 Series looks like a BMW and drives like one, but certain parts of it really don’t feel like they belong in a BMW. Click here to read my Autos.ca Test Drive.
What I think: 2012 Hyundai Genesis R-Spec
The letter R is a dangerous one when used in a vehicle trim designation.
What I think: 2012 Dodge Journey R/T AWD
In 2011, Dodge sold 29,021 Journeys in Canada, making it the best-selling compact seven-seat crossover in the country, and second-best in the class, behind the extremely popular Ford Escape. That was a 22 per cent increase over its 2010 sales, probably owing to some pretty significant improvements Dodge made to its smallest crossover model for the 2011 model year.
What I think: 2012 Kia Rio
There’s a lot to like about the 2012 Kia Rio, including its sharp looks and fun handling. My main complaint are the optimistic fuel consumption estimates, which are nowhere close to what the car is capable of in real-world driving. Read my full Autos.ca review here.
What I think: 2012 Lexus IS 350 AWD
I am neither tall, nor do I possess the financial fortitude necessary for luxury car ownership. Presumably, though, there are many non height-challenged drivers who have the cash for a cushy car. If you are one of them, let me take the opportunity to tell you that the sedan you see here — the Lexus IS 350 AWD — is not the car for you.
What I think: 2012 Porsche Cayman R
Despite bearing the name of one of the world’s most respected sports car manufacturers, the Porsche Cayman is arguably the car that best combines track-happy performance, day-to-day driveability and fuel economy. The Cayman S has a 320-horsepower engine and posts a zero-to-100 km/h time of less than five seconds, and yet boats fuel consumption estimates to rival some family sedans and an easy-driving nature well-suited to the rush-hour slog.
What I think: 2012 Toyota Camry
What’s in a name? An awful lot if yours is Camry.
This mid-sized Toyota has practically defined the term “family car” since it was introduced in the early 1980s, its name becoming closely-associated with things like reliable, practical and generally awesome.
