The hits keep coming from Buick, a brand trying to reinvent itself as hip and relevant after decades of selling stodgy, dull sedans. Its biggest engineering success so far is its smallest model, the compact Verano. Click here to read my Autos.ca Quick Spin of the 2012 Verano.

What I think: 2012 Scion iQ
The tiny Toyota-built Scion iQ wants you to think it’s a smart buy. But at nearly $17,000, you can do much better, value-wise. Click here to read my Autos.ca Test Drive.
What I think: 2012 BMW 328i
The 2012 3 Series looks like a BMW and drives like one, but certain parts of it really don’t feel like they belong in a BMW. Click here to read my Autos.ca Test Drive.
What I think: Buying a used Nissan Quest
The third-generation Nissan Quest was a styling standout among a stodgy field of minivans, but it’s also a lesson in why standing out is not always worthwhile. Click here to read my Autos.ca Used Vehicle Review.
What I think: Buying a used MazdaSpeed6
The MazdaSpeed6, sold in 2006 and 2007, was a rarity in being a high-performance car based on a garden-variety family sedan, the Mazda6. With a turbocharged motor, all-wheel drive and the only transmission being a six-speed manual, this monster had all the right ingredients for four-door fun. The shame of it, is that it wasn’t built to withstand the rigours of being driven the way it was designed to be. Click here to read my Autos.ca used review of the MazdaSpeed6.
What I think: Buying a used Hyundai Genesis Coupe
It’s only been on the road for about three years, but I’m fairly confident in suggesting the Hyundai Genesis Coupe is a well-built sports coupe that makes a smart used car buy. Check out my full review at Autos.ca.
What I think: 2012 Hyundai Genesis R-Spec
The letter R is a dangerous one when used in a vehicle trim designation.
What I think: Buying a used Honda Accord
Honda has lost the plot, compared to its world-beating ways of the 1990s, its reputation tarnished by some reliability troubles and a few sales duds. The eighth-generation Honda Accord, however, seems to live up to the brand’s ideals — well, mostly. Click here for my Autos.ca used car review of the 2008-2012 Honda Accord.
What I think: 2012 Dodge Journey R/T AWD
In 2011, Dodge sold 29,021 Journeys in Canada, making it the best-selling compact seven-seat crossover in the country, and second-best in the class, behind the extremely popular Ford Escape. That was a 22 per cent increase over its 2010 sales, probably owing to some pretty significant improvements Dodge made to its smallest crossover model for the 2011 model year.
